UV Index Help

UV Index Help

UV Index is the Ultra Violet Radiation Index.

The index is a value between 0 (none) and 15 (extreme).

This value shows the part of the invisible spectrum of light that reaches the earth from the sun.

Although the Earth's atmosphere protects us from the bulk of these rays, those that get through are still harmful.

UV has been linked to sunburn, skin cancer, skin wrinkling and aging, cataracts, and other ocular damage.

What Is A Trojan Horse Virus?

What is a Trojan Horse Virus?

A Trojan Horse Virus is a common yet difficult to remove computer threat.

This is a type of virus that attempts to make the user think that it is a beneficial application.

A Trojan Horse virus works by hiding within a set of seemingly useful software programs.

Once executed or installed in the system, this type of virus will start infecting other files in the computer.

A Trojan Horse Virus is also usually capable of stealing important information from the user's computer.

It will then send this information to Internet servers designated by the developer of the virus.

The developer will then be able to gain a level of control over the computer through this Trojan virus.

While these things take place, the user will notice that the infected computer has become very slow or unexpected windows pop up without any activity from the user.

Later on, this will result to a computer crash.

A Trojan Horse virus can spread in a number of ways. The most common means of infection is through email attachments.

The developer of the virus usually uses various spamming techniques in order to distribute the virus to unsuspecting users.

These emails contain attachments. Once the user opens the attachment, the Trojan Horse Virus immediately infects the system and performs the tasks mentioned above.

A method used by this virus in order to infect other machines is through sending copies of itself to the people in the address book of a user whose computer has already been infected by the virus.

The best way to prevent a Trojan Horse Virus from entering and infecting your computer is to never open email attachments or files that have been sent by unknown senders.

However, not all files we can receive are guaranteed to be virus-free. A good way of protecting your PC against malicious programs such as this harmful application is to install and update an antivirus program.

Virtual Villagers 3 Puzzles

Virtual Villagers 3 Puzzles is now available!

Puzzle 1 - The First Chief. Drop all your villagers on the robes in theAmphitheatre: any villager except nursing moms can become chief. If youCan’t find your chief right away, wait until the moms no longer haveBabies and drop them on the robe. (You will need to repeat this process each time the chief dies.)

Puzzle 2 - The Bee Hive. First, light the fire (collect wood and drygrass in the fire pit, then lights the fire). Then drop an adult villager on the burned out torches near the hive. He/she will return the torchTo the hive and calm the bees so you can collect honey.

Puzzle 3 - The Alchemy Lab. You will need an Adept Scientist (or more than one). Scattered around the village (random locations) are 2 coloured pots (red or yellow with white stripes), a brown pot, a gray bowl with spoons, and a short spear (orange-brown handle with grayblade). Drop your scientist(s) on each item and they will return it to the lab - if they drop the item before reaching the lab, it will warp back to where you found it originally. Returning all five items solves the puzzle.

Puzzle 4 - The Roster of the Dead. At the far right of the map (use keyboard shortcut “3” to get there) is a grassy area - at the upper right of this area is a big leafy bush. Have your villagers remove these leaves, which uncovers the roster of the dead (they will gain building skill; trained builders can accomplish this faster).

Puzzle 5 - Weather Dancing. You will need Level 2 Leadership, a tribal chief and 3 Adept Farmers. First, drop the chief on your lit fire.He/she will begin weather dancing. Then drop the farmers on the fire, and they will join in. You will know they are successful when sparkles appear over their heads and under their feet.

Puzzle 6 - The Lift. You will need 3 Adept Builders and Level 2 restoration.Once you have purchased the tech, drop your 3 builders on the "strange machine" in the orchard. Make sure their action line reads "repairing the lift". If you have done this correctly, the lift will be repaired.

Puzzle 7 - The Rubble. You will need Level 2 Restoration. Drop a villager(You would prefer a builder) on the pile of rocks at the bottom of the map. He/she will clear away the rocks, gaining building skill (builders willaccomplish this task faster).

Puzzle 8 - The Ancient Bath. You will need to have completed Puzzle 3and have a Master Builder. Drop your builder on the "chalkboard" in thealchemy lab (he/she will "see" it if you fly them over the lab) - he/shewill create the plans for the bath. Drop your builders on the bathto complete the project.

Puzzle 9 - The Statue. You will need Level 3 Restoration, Level 3 leadership, a Tribal chief, a Master Builder, and a completed bath (solved Puzzle 8). Drop the Master Builder on the chalkboard (which will be blank after the bath is completed), and he/she will draw up plans for the statue. Drag an adult villager (but not a nursing mom) up the path to the door until he/she "Sees a good place to anchor the statue" -- This villager is more likely to be successful if he/she has some building skill. That villager will then build scaffolding to help anchor the statue. Your chief must direct work on the statue, so drop him/her on the statue to begin this process. - If the chief stops directing work, then progress will halt until you return the chief to his/her duties. Once the chief is directing, you can then drop builders on the statue to help "pushing the statue". The villagers must push the statue up the path towards the door - this will take several hours (You can click on the statue to bring up a timer in the status bar that will help you determine how much is left to build it - but this time depends on how many builders you have working on the project and may increase if builders leave the project). Your builders may occasionally complain that "there is no more room to help out" - only a limited number of builders can work on the statue at any given time.

Puzzle 10 - The Orchard. You should plant your first seed as soon as the game starts: this first seed is located next to the ruined lift: drop one of your adult villagers on this seed and he/she will plant it. To gather the next two seeds, you will need to have completed Puzzle 6 (The Lift). As soon as a rain storm starts, place an adult villager (but not a nursing mom) on the lift (his/her action line should read "Standing on the Lift") Leave the villager there until the lift reaches its highest point, when a seed will fall from the tree above. Drop the villager on the seed to plant it. You will need to plant a total of 3 seeds (the original plus two from the lift) to complete the orchard - the puzzle will be completed once all three trees have become mature (and start producing fruit - it takes about 8 hours on 'normal' speed for the tree to mature). Additional seeds (beyond the first three) will not be planted, but will instead be placed in the food bin.(Note: If you have trouble getting to the lift before it starts to go up, you may wish to pause the game with the spacebar when you see the rain start before finding a villager. You will need to unpause the game to see their status line to make sure they are properly placed.)

Puzzle 11 - Banishing the Sharks. You will need to have completed Puzzle 3 and have at least Level 2 in your chosen faction, Nature or Magic. For NATURE: Collect the following herbs for a potion: 2 X Black Orchid, 1 x Pitcher Plant. For MAGIC: collect the following herbs for a potion: 2 X Rose, 1 x Berry. Have an adult villager (not a nursing mother) drink the potion. He/she will take a vial to the ocean. How the sharks are actually dealt with depends on the faction chosen (the nature potion is a shark repellent, the magic potion "charms" the sharks so they won't bother the villagers).

Puzzle 12 - Aromatherapy. You will need to have completed Puzzle 8, have Level 3 Medicine, and a Master Doctor. Drop your Master Doctor in the completed bath. He/she will fill the bowls around the bath with Lotus plants ("doing aromatherapy"). Then drop a Master Doctor on the fire to light the burners and finish the puzzle.

Puzzle 13 - The Ash Key. Later in the game (after at least one fire cycle - 10 hours on fast speed), you will notice sparkles around the fire. Let your fire go out (do not replenish it with firewood) - a diamond will appear in the ashes. The diamond will be too hot to pick up initially (it was in a fire, don't forget). To cool the key, drop adult villagers on the rightmost of the two waterfalls (where they go to drink and do laundry). They will gather water and drop it on the key. They will need to do this several times (8-10, at least) to make the diamond cool enough to touch - your villagers won't repeat this task on their own, so you will have to make them do it by dropping them on the waterfall. When the villagers no longer bring water to the fire (they'll revert to drinking from the waterfall when you drop them on it), drop a villager on the key - they will take it to the door and solve the puzzle. You will need to repeat this step if they drop the key before reaching the door.

Puzzle 14 - The Hanging Key. You will need to have solved Puzzle 3. Collect the following herbs for a potion: Cactus, Rose, Lotus. Make the potion and have villager (other than a nursing mom) drink it. That villager should feel “light and springy!”. Drop them near the pink diamond (the hanging thing) just above the Rose plant - their status line should read “trying to reach the key”. They will jump up, collect the key, and place it in the door. If they drop the key before reaching the door, you will have to resolve this puzzle.

Puzzle 15 - The Clam Key. You will need to have solved Puzzle 9. Once the statue is completed, a pearl will appear. Have a Master Builder pick up the pearl - he/she will take it to the waterfall to be “finished”. Then have the tribal chief pick up the finished blue pearl: the chief will use the pearl to get the key from the giant clam and will then put the key in the door. (As with the other key puzzles, you may have to repeat parts of the puzzle if the key is dropped before it gets to the door).

Puzzle 16 - The Sun Dial. You will need to have solved Puzzles 13, 14, and 15. Once all three keys are in the door, the sun dial room will be revealed. Drop a villager on the sun dial until it reaches the position at the furthest left (there are three locations for the sun dial). When a beam of sunlight hits the sun dial, ghostly figures will appear in the room. Drop a villager on those ghostly figures and the mystery of the secret city will be revealed!

Virtual Villagers 2 Puzzles

Here is Virtual Villagers 2 puzzles!(P.S. A bit messy!)

The Elder Totem-Once you have a villager who has mastered three skills, they become an Esteemed Elder. When this happens, a totem is created and placed in your village in their honor. It can be moved anywhere you like.

Sustainable Fishing-When the ocean to the west is over-fished, it develops algae. To eliminate the problem and restore fishing, special algae-eating fish must be transported from the pond to the ocean. This requires Level Three Farming and a Master Farmer or Master Scientist. Take them to the pond and drop them in. Once enough algae-eating fish are transported to the ocean, the algae will clear.

The Vine Wall-Along the east wall are a number of vines that conceal some strange markings. To uncover these, you must first complete the cutting tool and purchase Level Three Culture. Drag a villager to the wall and release them. They will use the cutting tool to remove the vegetation.
The Stew-In order to make stews, you must first recover the cauldron from the wood pile in the southwest. It will appear after you purchase Level Two Exploration. With the fire burning and the cauldron next to it, drop a villager on the cauldron three times. Once each to put it on the fire, fill it with water and add food. Then, drop a villager on any of the herbs you have mastered adding a total of three to the mix in any combination (you can use multiples of the same herb).
Of course, different selections of herbs will have different results. Keep track of the ingredients in all the stews you make. You want to avoid duplication and don't want to recreate a bad stew (it can make your villagers sick). If you treat your villagers to the best, they will stay healthy and remain happy.
Here are some recipes to get you started. The numbers for each herb correspond to the herbs as listed and identified under Herb Mastery.
1+2+6 = Your villager feels healthier after eating.1+5+6 = This stew gave your villager a burst of energy.2+3+4 = This spicy stew clears your villager's nose and throat.3+5+6 = This stew gives off a very sweet smell.4+5+6 = Your villager feels healthier.4+6+6 = Strange stew...your villager feels no need to breathe.

The Ancient Ruins-Once you've completed the dam and reached Level Three Engineering and Exploration, you can drag a villager to the ancient ruins in the southeast corner of the map and they will start uncovering the site.

The Hospital-Obtain Level Three Engineering and Medicine, and a foundation will appear in the south central portion of the map. This lets your villagers build a hospital.

The Sewing Hut-Once you reach Level Two Culture, a foundation become visible for a sewing hut just east of the wood pile in the southwest corner of Isola. This allows your villagers to change clothing, but at a cost of 5,000 tech points each. Ouch! Where's Thurston Howell III when you need him?
The Sunken Gong Piece-One piece of the gong is located in the pool on the eastern edge of the village. This sunken gong piece is obtained by making a special magic stew consisting of one of the black flowers near the waterfall and two of the large orange flowers to the south of the village (herbs 4+6+6 as indicated above). Have a villager eat the stew, and then drop them in the pool.

The Inlaid Gong Piece-Once one of your villagers has become an Esteemed Elder and been honored with a totem and after you've completed the ancient ruins puzzle, drop a totem on the mosaic in the center of the ruins to retrieve another piece of the gong.

The Boxed Gong Piece-This piece of the gong is inside the crate on the beach to the west. Three Master Builders working together are needed to open it.

The Overgrown Gong Piece-After you purchase Exploration Level Two and complete the cutting tool, your villagers can clear away the vegetation blocking the cave to the north (the Gong Encasement). Doing so reveals a piece of the gong.

Fire-The first puzzle to be solved is starting a fire. Drop a villager on the wood pile in the southwest corner of the island and they will carry wood to the fire pit in the center. Then, take them to the pink flowers west of the coconut trees to collect some dried grass. Once the wood and grass are in place, drop them onto the fire pit and they will start a fire. Make sure to add wood occasionally to keep the fire from going out.

The Dam-Once you reach Level Two Engineering, drop a builder on the rocks just above the pool of water in the southeast corner of the island. They will construct a dam to irrigate the fields to the immediate left so that crops can be planted. This will also uncover an ancient mosaic on the ground, the site of a later puzzle.

The Scarecrow-This puzzle requires the completion of the dam above. Once you plant your crops, you need a scarecrow to keep the parrots away. Drop an Adept-level (or better) farmer on the twisted pieces of wood and vine just below the rock pile in the north center of the map. You'll need to do this twice.

The Cutting Tool-You need a cutting tool to clear the vegetation that covers the entrance to the cave in the north and the vine wall to the east. After you acquire Level Two Exploration, drop a Master Scientist on the sharp stones just above and to the right of the twisted pieces of wood and vine used for the scarecrow. When he's done, take him back for a second trip for the wood and vines necessary to finish the tool.

Herb Mastery-This puzzle is easy to complete early in the game. Six herbs are located around the edges of the map. Each one will be identified as a "strange plant" when a villager is held over it. Have a healer examine each one of them until they master it to complete this puzzle. The location of each herb is as follows:

1. The green plant in the upper left hanging over the wall of stones.
2. The blue flower at the top center just to the right of the cave.
3. The lavender daisy at the far top-right above the sacred area.
4. The black chain of flowers just above the waterfall on the east.
5. The bright red flowers southeast of the dam.
6. The large orange flower to the south of the village.
